UCL announced the establishment of its first business school—Global Business School for Health; the University of Edinburgh's Edinburgh Futures Institute has added several new master's programs; the University of Bristol stated that it will merge existing faculties to form a new business school in 2022. UCL Establishes Its First Business School
At the end of September, UCL officially announced the establishment of its first business school—Global Business School for Health! This is also the world's first business school dedicated to healthcare management and health.
Over the past two years, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the healthcare management ecosystem has become increasingly essential. UCL, seizing the moment, has established the Global Business School for Health, committed to contributing to the transformation of global healthcare management.
Program Offerings
This business school is located on UCL's East London campus (UCL East) and offers three interdisciplinary taught master's programs:

The Global Healthcare Management program is more specialized compared to the other two programs. Through opportunities to focus on analytics, finance, or leadership, students acquire the necessary skills and networks to transform the healthcare sector.
The program offers three specialization routes: Finance, Analytics, Leadership. You must choose one when applying.

It is highly suitable for those who want to start a business or join a startup. Moreover, this is the only program among the three that does not require a specific academic background!

MSc Biotech and Pharmaceutical Management
The Biotech and Pharmaceutical Management program is suitable for science and engineering students who want to supplement business knowledge. However, it also has the highest language requirement among the three.
This program combines courses with pharmacoeconomics and teaches students about regulatory affairs and market access. It is ideal for students who aim to pursue development and management in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals, or to work as consultants in the biotech or pharmaceutical industries.

University of Edinburgh EFI Futures Institute Adds New Programs
Recently, the University of Edinburgh's Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) also announced new programs, set to start in September 2022!
The institute's mission is to develop knowledge and insights to address future complex environments. EFI will adopt an interdisciplinary and multi-collaborative approach, working with industry elites, government, and domestic and international organizations to build a research institute that leverages rich data to tackle various unknown future challenges.

These six new programs cover a wide range of fields, including sociology, media, art, education, politics, management, data, and more. While strengthening theoretical knowledge, the curriculum also places great emphasis on cultivating interdisciplinary collaborative practical skills.
Back in July this year, the University of Edinburgh announced its Priority List of Chinese universities. For Chinese students, these six programs all fall under Band C. The requirements are: for Chinese institutions on Edinburgh’s priority list, an average score of 80% or above; for those not on the list, an average score of 85% or above.

EFI itself champions the “interdisciplinary” concept, and coupled with being new programs, the degree of restriction on academic backgrounds may be somewhat relaxed. For students who want to apply across disciplines but whose undergraduate backgrounds do not meet the requirements of most institutions, this is a great opportunity to give it a try!
University of Bristol Merges to Form a New Business School
The University of Bristol sent an email in early October stating that it will open a new business school in September 2022!
To provide students with more professional and cutting-edge business education, the university plans to merge the “School of Accounting and Finance” and the “School of Management” to form a new Business School.
In the email, the university specifically mentioned that the establishment of the new business school will not affect the existing courses of the “School of Accounting and Finance” and “School of Management”, and teaching will still be conducted by the original faculty of those two schools.
Not only is a new business school about to be established, but the University of Bristol has also recently launched several new programs for Fall 2022 applicants, covering hot fields such as business analytics, fintech, data science, management, and communication studies.
