April to May every year is the most important time for students transferring from community college to UC.
All the hard work and effort of the past two years pays off this month. Every email notification will have you on edge, and each exhilarating moment of logging into the portal will be an unforgettable experience.
We believe many of you have already received your offers to varying degrees. After receiving your acceptance letter, there are still many follow-up steps you must not forget! And for those who were rejected by your dream school or placed on the waitlist, don't be discouraged—you still have a chance.
For Students Who Received an Admission Offer
Congratulations to those who have already received an admission offer—your hard work has paid off! But don't let the excitement cloud your judgment.
Once you have decided to accept this offer, you need to log into your Student Application Portal before the deadline to submit your SIR (Statement of Intent to Register) and pay the deposit to secure your spot.
The SIR submission deadline for UC transfer is June 1.
In addition, we have compiled the following important reminders.
1 Admission Contract
As soon as you have chosen and confirmed the school you will attend, the immediate next step is to log into its admission portal and review your admission contract.
It is important to know that the school that sent you the acceptance letter has the right to revoke it. Therefore, you must check in your Admission Contract which of the following agreements applies to you.
General Provisional Agreement
1. Meet the admission standards
2. Maintain the level of performance you had at the time of admission
3. Submit transcripts and other required documents
Specific Provisional Agreement
For example: You must pass all Spring 2021 courses with at least a B grade.
2 Immunization Requirement
Basically all UC campuses will require students to have the necessary vaccinations before arriving on campus in October.
Although this does not directly affect your admission status, it could impact your course registration time after enrollment.
3 Academic Change Report
After accepting the university's offer, if there are any academic changes, report them to the university as early as possible! This could also significantly affect your admission.
The changes that need to be reported are as follows:
Withdrawal from a course listed on your application
GPA no longer meets the minimum transfer standard
Receiving a D or F in a course
Inability to meet the requirements of the admission contract agreement
Noticeable decline in grades, etc.
4 Sending Official Transcripts
After the spring 2022 semester ends, do not forget to send your latest official transcript to UC Admission.
5 Check I-20 and Visa (International Students Only)
After receiving admission from the new school, you need to transfer your SEVIS record, i.e., I-20, to the new university at the end of the semester.
Generally, you need to submit a Transfer Out form to your previous community college, and also submit a Transfer In form to the new UC.
For Students on the Waitlist
First of all, congratulations! Being placed on the waitlist is better than receiving a direct rejection.
Waitlist means the school is still considering you, but there are currently no available seats.
After being invited, applicants need to opt in to the waitlist before the deadline. Then, carefully read the specific requirements of different UC campuses; they may ask for spring semester grades, essays, supplementary materials, etc., or include important submission deadlines.
Generally, schools will notify you of acceptance or rejection after the SIR submission deadline on June 1. Once admitted from the waitlist, you will have a certain number of days to accept the offer—don't miss it!
At the same time, while waiting for your dream school's waitlist invitation, don't forget to submit SIR to a school that has already offered you admission to secure your spot.
For Students Who Received a Rejection Letter
Possible Reasons for Rejection by Your Dream School
• The student did not meet the minimum admission requirements
• The student did not complete major preparation requirements
• The student did not submit the TAU or respond to emails requesting additional information
• The student's GPA was not competitive enough

However, do not lose heart; this does not mean there is no chance.
Students who received a rejection can also consider appealing by providing additional documents to potentially change the outcome of your application.
The appeal process varies by school, but the following factors are usually considered when reviewing submitted documents:

1. Case-by-case basis
2. New documents/merits, such as new academic or personal information (like winter/spring grades), or extenuating circumstances
3. Availability of admission slots
Check the detailed appeal deadlines on each campus's official website.
Once the appeal documents are ready, enter the corresponding school's admission decision portal to submit them.
Again, it is best to submit SIR to a school that has already offered you admission while appealing, to ensure you have at least one option.
