Yale Opens First New College in Nearly 50 Years
Not long ago, Yale announced a new school—Jackson School of Global Affairs—the first new professional school at Yale in nearly fifty years, opening this fall semester.
The school's predecessor, the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, was established back in 2009. Over the past decade, the institute has completed numerous academic and teaching projects in international affairs, earning a high reputation worldwide.
Compared to similar institutions, the Jackson School is smaller in scale and more focused.
According to Yale's website, the Jackson School will concentrate on international policy research and collaborate with other professional schools to create interdisciplinary advantages.

Not only Yale, but universities like Columbia, Carnegie Mellon, UCB, and many others have recently introduced new programs for 23Fall! These programs span business, sociology, literature, biomedicine, and more—a dazzling array!
Columbia University: Environmental Health Data Science
MS in Environmental Health Data Science is a brand-new master's program announced by Columbia University in August, and it is the first environmental health data science program in the U.S.
The program is housed under the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health, jointly launched with the Department of Biostatistics. It focuses on education in environmental health and provides the quantitative skills needed to process and analyze complex data sources in this field.
Application Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree or above
● No restriction on undergraduate major, but some math courses should have been completed
● Language requirements: TOEFL > 100; IELTS > 7.5
● GRE optional
● Personal statement
● Three letters of recommendation

Carnegie Mellon University: MA in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition
CMU's Department of Modern Languages has launched a new program—MA in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition.
Students enrolling in Fall 2023 will be the inaugural cohort of this program, and the application portal is now open!
The one-year program offers up to 9 second languages for study, including: English, Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Italian, Japanese, and Russian. Students may choose one.
The program also offers students choosing English the opportunity to earn a TESOL certificate. Those interested in TESOL might consider this new program.

Northwestern University: Master's in Data Science
Northwestern University's Master's in Data Science was previously only offered online in a part-time format.
Recently, NWU announced that the program will add a full-time, on-campus format for the Fall 2023 semester and accept international student applications!
The program is housed in Northwestern's School of Professional Studies and offers five tracks: Analytics and Modeling, Analytics Management, Artificial Intelligence, Data Engineering, and Technology Entrepreneurship.
Application Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree or above
● No explicit major requirement, but a quantitative background is recommended
● Language requirements: TOEFL not lower than 100; IELTS not lower than 7.0
● GMAT/GRE scores not required
● Transcript evaluation: International transcripts must be evaluated

University of California, Berkeley: Master of Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics
Master of Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics is a brand-new program launched by UCB in July this year.
The program is under UCB's Rausser College of Natural Resources, providing the coursework and hours needed for students who aspire to become registered dietitians and obtain dietitian credentials.
This is a niche program with relatively few applicants, and as the first cohort for 23Fall, difficulty may be lower than usual. So, for those aiming for UCB, this could be a great opportunity!

● Bachelor's degree or above
● Minimum GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale)
● Volunteer or work experience (preferred but not required)
● Interview
● At least 3 letters of recommendation
● Minimum TOEFL total score of 90; IELTS accepted

University of Chicago: MS in Biomedical Sciences
The University of Chicago's new MS in Biomedical Sciences is a one-year program, and being a STEM-designated program, it offers three years of OPT eligibility.
