Recently, many Canadian undergrads have received offers from JHU, ranging from BARM to Biotechnology, with GPAs spanning from 2.8 to 3.9 and very diverse backgrounds. For those still considering JHU as a safety school, it's worth taking a look at this year's admission trends. Based on our successful admission cases, we've summarized some tips for applying to JHU, hoping to help everyone out!
Do Canadian Undergrads Have an Advantage When Applying to JHU?
Canadian undergrads have a [clear undergraduate advantage] in their applications.
We've had students admitted from SFU, Western, UT, and UBC, and JHU is relatively flexible about submitting applications without GRE scores.
For competitive majors, GPA requirements are getting higher and higher. Offer holders for the three popular business programs—MKT, BARM, and Finance—have particularly high GPAs, generally at least 3.7+. Of course, JHU is also very generous with scholarships, and students who receive large scholarships typically have GPAs around 3.8.
Is There Still Hope with a Low GPA?
Applicants with below-average GPAs who want to stand out need to perform exceptionally well in other areas (e.g., essays, interviews) to gain favor. Of course, we have also had cases of students from a top-three Canadian university with a GPA below 3.0 who got into JHU.
Below are some popular JHU programs we've compiled:

Since many students in this program are accomplished professionals, evening classes better fit their schedules.
However, many people mistakenly believe that "evening classes" indicate a low-quality program.
Most graduate students in the U.S. are career-oriented, meaning that when they enroll, a large portion are working while studying. For students with jobs or internships, schools typically schedule classes in the evening. So don't dismiss a program based on differences between Chinese and American educational systems. When choosing a program, always consider your goals and don't blindly follow others' opinions. Regarding whether JHU is "watered down," we've previously written an article—feel free to read it and judge for yourself.
