Mainland Chinese universities account for nearly half of the top ten, reflecting the strong rise of mainland China's education, though universities from other regions also remain highly competitive.

Performance of Mainland Chinese Universities

This year, 133 institutions from mainland China made the list, making it the second most represented Asian country/region; India led with 148 universities.

Mainland Chinese universities enjoy a strong reputation among academics and global employers. Peking University and Tsinghua University ranked second and fifth respectively in academic reputation; in employer reputation, Tsinghua was third and Peking University fifth.
