Starting November 18, 2024, Chinese embassies and consulates in the U.S. will officially implement a new "online application + in-person fingerprinting" process for passport renewal. This means that after submitting an application via the app, students must schedule an appointment to visit the embassy/consulate's application hall in person to have their fingerprints taken. The traditional mail-in renewal model will become a thing of the past. This adjustment aims to promote electronic passports with biometric fingerprint data. For students who have already renewed their passports but have not had their fingerprints recorded, there is no need to worry—they can still go through the manual channels for entry as usual.
