Curriculum

 

The Sustainable Energy master’s curriculum at Brown’s School of Engineering integrates a wide range of interdisciplinary topics, including science, engineering, policy, economics, and business. 

 

Core courses include Sustainable Energy Science and Technology, Climate and Energy Modeling, Grid Decarbonization, and Policy and Economics of Energy Transitions. Students may also take courses from IBES (Institute at Brown for Environment and Society) and IAPA (Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs).

Sustainable Energy Science and Technology

Policy and Economics of Energy Transitions (½-credit course)

Energy and Climate Systems Modeling (½-credit course) 

Electrification and Decarbonization

*no capstone or thesis requirement

 

 

Admission Requirements

 

This program currently does not accept international applications (pending DHS approval). Three recommendation letters and a 1000-1500 word personal statement are required (explaining reasons for pursuing graduate study in the field, including past work, study plans, and career goals). GRE is not required but recommended. The application deadline is May 1.

Required for any non-native English speaker.

Personal Statement:
