Yale School of Management has nearly 100 faculty members and roughly 340 seats in its MBA program. Compared to older business schools like HBS and Wharton, Yale SOM is indeed a very young school. Its enrollment size is not large, with relatively few Chinese students admitted each year, but due to the school's prestigious name and alumni network, applications remain highly popular and competitive. Today we will detail the application information for Yale University's Master's Degree in Asset Management. What are the application requirements for this STEM-designated Asset Management master's, and what type of applicants does it prefer?

Yale University Master's Degree in Asset Management
Yale University's Master in Asset Management program was launched in 2019, originally scheduled to welcome its first cohort in fall 2020, but postponed to fall 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a full-time STEM program spanning nine months.
Students receive training across all aspects of asset management, including investment theory, investment practice, trading, and portfolio execution, with an emphasis on applying forward-looking quantitative methods and new technologies in the field. For instance, they learn how to integrate data science and quantitative analysis techniques into investments, and how to balance investment performance, professional ethics, and fiduciary responsibility. A standout feature of the program is the Asset Management Colloquium, which invites executives, investors, and practitioners from leading firms to discuss real-time industry topics. Upon completion, students earn a Master of Management Studies degree.
Class of 2022 Overview

The program is divided into four quarters. The first two quarters focus on required courses, leaning toward theory and methodology, while the last two offer more electives, leaning toward application.
Additionally, students must complete at least 40 hours of practical experience through one of the following: continuing asset management work with a current employer; completing an asset management-related internship or project at an external organization; assisting a SOM finance professor with asset management research; or engaging in other activities pre-approved by the department chair. International students who complete an internship or project at an external organization are eligible for Curricular Practical Training (CPT).
Acelin, a CheersYou(清柚教育) consultant, reminds everyone to be mentally prepared: this program is very intense. Although there are only four classes per week, there is a heavy load of homework and group discussions, creating significant academic pressure. At the same time, the backgrounds of your classmates are very strong. Mindset is crucial.

Standardized Test Score Reference for Program Students

The Asset Management program is a STEM-designated program, so applicants are expected to have a strong quantitative background. They should have completed courses in multivariable calculus, linear algebra, probability theory, and statistics, as well as have coursework or experience in computer programming. These courses can be in progress at the time of application but must be completed before the program begins. Advanced mathematics courses beyond calculus and economic theory will be a plus.
Yale University's institutional resources need no elaboration. Its Career Development Office (CDO) works closely with employers to build partnerships and identify opportunities for Yale SOM students and alumni, while also providing robust career management support to help graduates launch their careers on a strong footing.
