Columbia MSE Program Overview

Columbia University's Management Science and Engineering (MSE) is a 36-credit STEM program jointly offered by Columbia Engineering and the Business School. Compared to other IEOR department majors, MSE provides more access to Business School resources. Correspondingly, MSE admissions value industry experience, are not overly test-score-focused, and the undergraduate backgrounds of admitted students are mostly engineering with some business.

Columbia MSE Curriculum Consists of Three Parts:

Required Core (12 credits, 4 main courses), Semi-Core (18 credits, about 6 courses), and Concentrations (6 credits, 2 elective courses). Students must take at least six courses in the IEOR Department, four to six courses at the Business School, and can also choose from topics including Operations and Analytics, Pricing and Revenue Management, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
