USC: New DC Campus, Making Its Presence Felt on the East Coast
In March this year, West Coast powerhouse USC officially announced it will open a new campus in Washington, D.C., spending nearly $50 million on the construction.
The new USC campus will be open to both undergraduates and graduates, offering courses in sciences, arts, education, political science, journalism and communication, and more.
According to USC's president, many students aspire to work in government after graduation. By establishing a campus in the capital, the university can fully leverage its location to facilitate deep learning and collaboration between students, faculty, and government and research institutions.
The new campus spans 60,000 square feet, featuring state-of-the-art office spaces, multiple event venues, and an outdoor terrace with panoramic city skyline views.
In addition to numerous classrooms and study areas, USC plans to build a theater and a USC bookstore.

NEU: The Expansion Maniac Opens Its 14th Campus in Miami
When it comes to new campuses, expansion maniac Northeastern University is never far behind. In 2023, NEU will open its 14th campus in Miami, covering high-growth fields like biotechnology, computer science, data, analytics, and engineering, with over 20 graduate degree programs, mostly in STEM disciplines.
Since 2021, NEU has established 13 campuses, including Boston, London, Oakland, Toronto, Vancouver, Seattle, Charlotte, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Arlington, Portland, Nahant, and Burlington, firmly cementing its status as a global university.
JHU: Lavish New DC Campus, Neighbors with the President
Originally a world-class academic museum building of about 420,000 square feet, after nearly three years and an investment of around $370 million in redesign and renovation, it will open as JHU's new campus.
The new campus will open this September and will house Johns Hopkins' Carey Business School, School of Advanced International Studies, and Krieger School of Arts and Sciences.
The new JHU building includes classrooms, offices, conference spaces, media rooms, and other teaching facilities, plus a 370+ seat theater with a pre-function lobby.
Additionally, the new campus will offer several rooftop terraces with views of Pennsylvania Avenue, the White House, and the Capitol. A restaurant and café are also in the works!
The JHU new campus is also close to world-famous landmarks like the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, the White House, and the Capitol.

NYU: Generous Alumni Donations Keep the Buying Spree Going
Last year, NYU received a $100 million donation from Stern alumnus John Paulson to build the 735,000-square-meter John A. Paulson Center, named after him.
Paulson earned his bachelor's from NYU and his MBA from Harvard, and runs his own firm in New York as a hedge fund manager.
This isn't Paulson's first generous gift; NYU, Harvard, and the London School of Economics have all benefited from his philanthropy. This NYU Stern alum is truly rolling in it!
Located near Mercer Street on the Washington Square Park campus, the building is already open to students from multiple schools and programs, including Tisch School of the Arts and Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.

Columbia is equally lavish, launching its largest expansion in over 100 years. The 492,000-square-foot "Crystal Blocks" cost $6.3 billion and houses the new business school campus.
Columbia's new building is a big deal! Designed by renowned architecture firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro, it's also New York City's first neighborhood development project to earn LEED-ND Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

UCLA: Largest-Ever Expansion to Enroll More Students
Last September, the UC Board of Regents approved UCLA's $80 million purchase of the former campus of Marymount California University.
The new campus spans 35.5 acres and can accommodate 1,000 students, meeting the academic, work, and living needs of more students and faculty. This aligns with the UC system's enrollment expansion plan.
UC plans to add 3,000 undergraduates and 350 graduate students by 2030. However, this expansion is limited to California residents; out-of-state and international students are excluded.
Dream school gets a new campus, but the benefits aren't shared equally. International students can only envy and must work even harder to stay competitive.
