Program Introduction
The Master of Quantitative Economics (MQE) program is dedicated to using data science, finance, and economics to address society's greatest challenges. Students study a range of disciplines including data science, machine learning, financial modeling, and economics, while also gaining exposure to many financial tools and platforms such as R, SQL, and Python. Its unique practical curriculum and approach equip graduates with the applied concepts, technical tools, and analytical skills needed to solve complex business problems faced by various organizations.
The program length is 9-18 months, offering flexibility. If you wish to earn the degree quickly, you can complete it in 9 months (or 3 quarters—fall, winter, and spring). However, students may extend the program to 18 months if they choose.
If an applicant's undergraduate degree is not in economics, they need to have taken Calculus 1 & 2, typically in an engineering or mathematics major, as well as Intermediate Macroeconomics and Intermediate Microeconomics. Additionally, without a foundation in econometrics, a strong background in statistics is required.
