"An undergraduate degree alone may not be enough" — this anxiety has swept across universities worldwide. In such a fiercely competitive job market, the rapid increase in postgraduate enrollment has become an inevitable trend. The better the school, the more likely its students are to pursue further studies, and Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) is a prime example.

When MUST students consider destinations for postgraduate studies, the UK is often their top choice. However, many MUSTers face uncertainty about how to position themselves across different tiers, worrying they won't be admitted to top-ranked programs. In recent years, CheersYou(清柚教育) has worked with many MUST students, all of whom ultimately received great offers~
Today, CheersYou(清柚教育) combines official requirements from universities with actual admission cases to decode the GPA tiers for MUST students. MUSTers aiming for UK master's programs can add CheersYou(清柚教育) advisor: qingyouge23 for more detailed information!
First, Let's Be Clear

Although Macau University of Science and Technology is a private university, it has developed rapidly and is now the largest comprehensive university in Macau. Therefore, MUST undergraduates are generally not restricted by institutional lists and can apply normally to G5 universities, as well as King's, Edinburgh, Manchester, and Warwick. As long as the corresponding grades and requirements are met, offers from QS Top 100 universities are achievable. So MUSTers, don't worry — apply with confidence!
How to Position Your Application Tier
1. G5 Universities

Imperial College London (IC) and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) explicitly require a GPA of 3.5+ for Macau undergraduate applicants, while University College London (UCL) requires a GPA of 3.3+. However, based on past experience, these minimum scores only serve as thresholds for application review; when exchanging conditions for unconditional offers, GPAs are often expected to be above 3.6. Therefore, MUST students aiming for G5 universities should strive to maintain a high GPA to avoid complications at the unconditional offer stage.
2. King's, Edinburgh, Manchester, and Warwick

King's College London (KCL) and the University of Edinburgh also set GPA requirements at the 3.5+ level (similarly expected when exchanging unconditional offers). The University of Warwick requires a GPA of 3.3+. Although the University of Manchester does not provide specific guidance for Macau applicants, its requirements for Hong Kong undergraduate applicants are an upper second-class honours degree (i.e., GPA 3.3+), and for mainland Chinese applicants the average requirement is around GPA 3.0+. Thus, it can be inferred that the requirement for Macau undergraduates is approximately GPA 3.3+.
3. Glasgow and Leeds

At the University of Glasgow, MUST is classified as equivalent to a mainland Chinese 211 university, and the same applies at the University of Leeds. Both universities require a GPA of 3.2+.
