Just now, the University of Chicago announced that the MPP program under the Harris School of Public Policy has officially become a STEM-designated program. Students enrolling this fall are in luck!

It should be noted that there are very few MPP programs with STEM certification in the U.S. The University of Chicago's MPP program fully embodies interdisciplinary integration and development, and its highly quantitative and analytical nature has finally led to its STEM certification.
Last year, the U.S. government announced the addition of 22 new STEM fields, including popular majors like data science, data analytics, and financial analysis, and also included social science, a field traditionally considered liberal arts.
Now that UChicago's MPP has officially received STEM certification, it is believed that more programs will be eligible to apply for STEM designation in the future. Of course, competition for newly STEM-designated programs is also expected to intensify.
Students aiming to work in the U.S. after graduation should prepare thoroughly and seize this golden application window.
