Registration for the 2024 GRE General Test in mainland China is now open!
Students can visit the NEEA website to register! In 2024, there will be a total of 32 GRE test dates across the mainland, with at least one test available each month. You can choose the session that best fits your study schedule and register accordingly.

GRE Registration Process in Mainland China
01 Create an ETS Account
First, go to the official GRE registration website for mainland China and click the "Register a New User" button at the bottom to start creating your account.

Agree to the registration agreement and fill in your basic information (note: NEEA accounts for TOEFL and GRE are not interchangeable; you need to create a new one).

Fill in your personal details.
After registration, use your NEEA ID and password to activate the account via mobile verification code. The system will assign a NEEA ID number, which you'll use to log in and check your scores.
Note! Right after registration, the "ETS Registration Number" may not appear immediately—you may need to wait for a while (usually from 5 minutes to 2 hours).
02 Top Up and Register for a Test
Log in to your account using your NEEA ID and the password you set. Once you see your personal dashboard, top up your account, then you can start registering.
The GRE exam fee can be paid via the following three online payment service providers:
- Alipay
- CMB Netcom
- Bank of China BOC Smart Pay
Select your test center and date. Click "Register for a Test" on the left menu and choose your preferred city and date.
After completing your test registration and filling out the background questionnaire, you will see a confirmation page. You can then check your registration status by clicking "View Registered Tests" on the left menu.
GRE Registration Discounts
1. GRE Retake Discount
Register for another GRE General Test before December 31, 2023, and you can enjoy a discount of $50 USD (approximately ¥360 RMB).
The retake discount applies to GRE tests taken before September 20, or the shorter GRE tests available from September 22 to December 31.

2. Usage Conditions
The discount code is valid both in North America and mainland China; the two codes cannot be stacked. In mainland China, the discount is only applicable to GRE paper-based tests, not the GRE General Test at home.
3. How to Use: Log in to your GRE account, click "Voucher" on the left menu, and enter the discount code to enjoy the savings!
Pre-Test Preparation & Important Notes
1. ID Card
Make sure to have your valid ID card ready; you must bring a valid ID to enter the test center on exam day.
2. Confirmation Letter
It is advisable to print it out and bring it with you. In the past, many centers were not strict about checking it, but after the pandemic, it may become stricter, so we recommend preparing a copy.
3. Rescheduling or Canceling
You need to apply at least 10 days before your test date. Rescheduling is subject to seat availability, and there is a rescheduling fee of ¥388.
4. Time Interval
You can take the GRE a maximum of five times per year, and you must wait at least 21 days between tests. Please note that both the at-home and paper-based tests count toward the total number of attempts.
