International graduates qualify for one year of Optional Practical Training (OPT) plus a two-year STEM extension, allowing up to three years of work authorization in the U.S. (non-STEM OPT is limited to one year).
Tuition is $1,817 per credit (the program requires 36 credits total). The detailed cost breakdown is as follows:

Core Courses
- Information Technology and Data Science: includes statistical methods, machine learning, data management, informatics standards and technical infrastructure

IV. Application Requirements
MS in Health Informatics students typically have the following backgrounds:
- Quantitative Reasoning: Applicants must demonstrate strengths in quantitative reasoning, evidenced by strong grades in undergraduate math or statistics courses, high standardized test scores, or a combination thereof.
- Computer Programming: Applicants must be prepared for some computer programming in statistical and informatics methods courses. At least one undergraduate-level computer science or introductory programming course, along with experience in a programming or scripting language (such as R, Java, Python, or SAS), is expected. For those without such coursework, successful completion of a high-quality online course may be viewed favorably.
- Healthcare or Biomedical Sciences: Prior coursework or work experience in clinical healthcare, biomedical sciences, or public health is preferred. Physicians, nurses, and other health professionals are often welcomed into the program.
Note: All admitted students without prior R programming experience are required to complete a self-paced R course during the summer before the program starts.
