Program Overview
Pratt Institute's new MFA in Fashion Collection + Communication program redefines advanced fashion design education comprehensively.
The MFA in Fashion Collection + Communication offers a dynamic interdisciplinary teaching approach, covering design, theoretical analysis, and critical examination. Through research and studio-based work, students will engage in self-directed learning, collaborate with distinguished faculty and scholars of Pratt's Fashion Department, and deepen their creative practice.
The MFA in Fashion Collection + Communication program will lead trends in the rapidly changing industry, setting precedents for new ways of working, making, and thinking about fashion, and welcomes applicants from non-fashion backgrounds.
Curriculum
This two-year, 60-credit program delves into the concept of fashion collections and examines how fashion communicates ideas and drives cultural narratives.
This is a truly interdisciplinary program built around dynamic elective pathways, allowing students to tailor their graduate coursework to their area of focus. The emphasis on conceptual development and production, including traditional craftsmanship and state-of-the-art technology, is a highlight of this degree.

Admission Requirements

This program only admits for the fall semester. The priority application deadline for fall 2024 is January 5, 2024.

Students are advised to submit their applications before the priority deadline. However, applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis until the program reaches capacity.

TOEFL score of 88 (internet-based and home edition accepted), TOEFL ITP Plus for China 570, IELTS 7.0, PTE 59, or Cambridge English score of 95.

Accepts applicants with an undergraduate degree in a field other than Fashion Design.
