University of Rochester
MS in AI in Business
The Simon Business School at the University of Rochester has launched a brand-new AI business master's program — MS in AI in Business — this year.
This STEM-designated program aims to integrate technical training with practical strategy, helping students gain hands-on experience and develop necessary communication skills.
The unique curriculum at Simon Business School combines rigorous analytics with AI applications, allowing students to gain experience in machine learning and data analytics to leverage AI for creating business value.
The curriculum covers programming, Python, deep learning, data management, AI business projects, and more. It includes 10 required courses and 3 electives, plus both internship and non-internship track options, equipping students with the skills needed to stand out in today's rapidly evolving business environment.
This program does not require GRE/GMAT scores. The first application round ended on October 15, 2024, and the next round deadline is January 5, 2025.
Carnegie Mellon University
MS in AI Systems Management
Starting in fall 2025, the Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University will offer a brand-new master's in AI Systems Management.
This STEM-designated program is designed to teach students how to apply AI to carry out specific tasks. As the top AI education institution in the U.S., CMU integrates faculty, curriculum, and interdisciplinary teaching to attract and cultivate future leaders in relevant fields.
The core curriculum includes Python, database management, AI model development, NL(X) & LLM application, and more. CMU has also partnered with top industry clients such as BBC, Uber, Disney, Sony Music, and Legendary Entertainment for capstone projects, emphasizing "experiential learning."
Applicants are expected to have a certain quantitative background; it is recommended to complete foundational quantitative courses such as calculus, statistics, and Python before applying.
The fall 2025 application has two rounds, with the priority round deadline on December 2, 2024, and the regular round deadline on January 10, 2025.
University of California, Berkeley
AI-focused Master of Laws (LL.M.)
UC Berkeley announced this 25Fall the launch of its first law degree with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI).
Berkeley Law, known for its innovative legal education and leadership in the intersection of law and technology, will introduce an AI Law and Regulation certificate for LL.M. Executive Track students, further helping legal professionals navigate the complexities of artificial intelligence.
The new program will help students build core skills and knowledge in areas such as data privacy, intellectual property, licensing, and risk. Key courses include AI Law and Governance, taught by Colleen V. Chien, one of the top 20 most-cited IP and cyber law scholars in the U.S.
Designed specifically for working professionals, the program can be completed in one year or over two consecutive summers through on-campus study, and applications are now open.
Syracuse University
Applied Human Centered Artificial Intelligence
The School of Information Studies at Syracuse University will launch a new graduate program, the Master of Applied Human Centered Artificial Intelligence, in 25Fall.
This is a STEM-designated program where students will explore best practices in human-computer interaction, master public Gen AI APIs to build innovative Python-based robots and agents, and graduate with a portfolio showcasing their expertise.
Syracuse's new AI master's can be completed in as little as one year. Students will use deep learning libraries and APIs to develop powerful AI applications, describe potential ethical considerations that may arise when developing AI applications, and articulate the complexities of human-computer interaction to improve human-machine collaboration.
The new program will have two priority rounds, with deadlines on January 1 and February 1 of next year, respectively; after that, admissions until the final deadline of June 1 will be subject to space availability.
Johns Hopkins University
Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence

The Carey Business School at Johns Hopkins University officially renamed two popular programs this year, closely linking them with AI.
The former Business Analytics and Risk Management program has been renamed: Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence
The former Information Systems program has been renamed: Information Systems and Artificial Intelligence for Business
The renamed programs will place greater emphasis on artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, and other content in their curricula, offering comprehensive AI-related courses to equip students with critical thinking and problem-solving skills to effectively address complex business challenges.
JHU's Carey Business School master's programs have three application rounds; the first round ended on October 16, 2024, and the next round deadline is January 8, 2025.
Think Rationally and Choose Wisely
For newly launched master's programs, it is both an opportunity and a challenge.
Compared to popular programs, new programs tend to have fewer applicants and thus less competitive pressure. Additionally, since it is the first year of offering, admissions offices often favor diversity in enrollment, which can lead to a relatively friendlier admissions difficulty.
For students aiming for top schools, this can be a worthwhile attempt. However, not all new programs guarantee an easy "shortcut" to a prestigious university; it is advisable to pay attention to the application requirements of programs you are interested in well in advance.
