Boston University's Master of Data Science (MSDS) is a flexible program designed to meet the goals of students pursuing academic or professional careers in data science.
The program aims to help students build interdisciplinary knowledge frameworks around data, discover innovative ways to develop new information systems and application products, and provide solutions to problems arising in the course of social development.

Program Information

· Duration: Can be completed in as few as 9 months, extendable to 12–16 months

Curriculum
Students must complete 32 credits and choose one of the following concentrations:
- Core Methods Concentration
- Applied Methods Concentration
Each concentration provides three specialized courses totaling 12 credits, along with five competency courses that must cover the following five areas:
- A1 Modeling and Predictive Analytics
- A2 Data-Centric Computing
- A3 Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
- A4 Social Impact
- A5 Security and Privacy

Application Requirements
· Background: A background in computer science, data science, or a related field is required, and most or all coursework equivalent to the following list should be completed.

· Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: Total score 90 or above
- IELTS: Overall 7.0 (6.5) or above
- Duolingo: Total score 130 or above
· GRE: not required
· Recommendation Letters: Two
