返回新鲜资讯Back to News

The Times Higher Education recently released its 2023 Young University Rankings, offering a fresh perspective for study-abroad applicants. Focusing on universities founded within the past 50 years, the ranking evaluates them across five dimensions including teaching quality, research, and international outlook. The list shows strong performance by young Asian universities, with half of the top ten coming from the region, particularly institutions in Hong Kong and Singapore. Thanks to their rising academic reputations and geographical advantages, they are becoming new favorites for many international student families.

CheersYou(清柚教育) has sorted out the findings and noted several dark horses at the top of this year's rankings, including Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (1st), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (2nd), and Paris Sciences et Lettres – PSL Research University (3rd). These young universities excel not only in research and teaching but also in industry-academia collaboration and international exchange. We advise students and parents to break away from the sole focus on traditional prestigious institutions when planning applications. Instead, pay close attention to these high-potential, cost-effective young universities to make more informed and rational school selection decisions.

When choosing schools for applications, students often refer to major authoritative university rankings, where the top ten are usually dominated by long-established American and British institutions.

However, beyond that, there are many more excellent universities worth paying attention to. Young universities are also beginning to play an increasingly important role in the global higher education sector.

Times Higher Education, one of the four authoritative world university rankings, recently released its 2023 Young University Rankings. It evaluates universities founded within the past 50 years on teaching, research, international outlook, and industry collaboration.

Ranking Methodology

This ranking essentially uses the same methodology as the World University Rankings, but for young universities, the indicator weightings are recalibrated to better reflect their mission.

Research (volume, income and reputation) 30%

Citations (research influence) 30%

International outlook (staff, students and research) 7.5%

Industry income (knowledge transfer) 2.5%
