One of the world's four most influential rankings, global higher education research institution QS released the 2020 World University Graduate Employability Rankings on September 19.
The QS Graduate Employability Rankings began in 2015. Unlike the comprehensive QS World University Rankings, the employability rankings focus more on institutions' capabilities and achievements in career prospects and professional development.
This ranking provides more authoritative, independent, and diverse data on graduate employment, and offers additional reference for students' study and career planning.
First, let's look at this year's scoring criteria:
Employer Reputation: 30%
Alumni Outcomes: 25%
Partnerships with Employers per Faculty: 25%
Employer/Student Connections: 10%
Graduate Employment Rate: 10%
In this year's ranking, U.S. institutions sweep the top three spots. MIT ranks 1st, Stanford 2nd, and UCLA 3rd.
Among Ivy League schools, only Harvard made the top 10. Two Australian universities rank in the top 10, at 4th and 7th. Top Asian universities also generally outperformed major European institutions in this ranking.
This also shows that graduate employability is not absolutely tied to a university's international reputation or research level.
Among Asian universities, China's Tsinghua University ranks highest at 6th globally. Among UK universities, Cambridge ranks highest at 8th. Among continental European universities, ETH Zurich ranks highest at 17th.
