Social Work
In the early 20th century, the United States established Social Work programs at universities. The social work system in the U.S. is highly developed, and every region has numerous organizations—hospitals, schools, charities, industrial organizations, etc.—all requiring social workers.
Social workers share a common mission—to promote social equity. They serve a wide range of disadvantaged groups, such as children, the elderly, substance abusers, etc., fighting for these groups' equal rights to survival.
In the U.S., there is also a well-established social work education system, typically housed in an independent college known as the School of Social Work or a similar name.
Degrees generally include bachelor's, master's, and PhD. Many schools also offer part-time programs (many American social workers study while employed) and advanced programs (specifically for those with a bachelor's degree in social work).
Curriculum & Application Requirements
Generally, if you did not study social work domestically, you will need two years to complete an MSW in the United States.
The first year is Foundation, and the second is Concentration. Core courses include: Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Sociology, Diversity, etc.
Columbia University MSW Curriculum:
For master's degree applications, most schools only require TOEFL scores (U.S. bachelor's degree holders are not required to submit) and do not require GRE scores. Social work has relatively high language proficiency requirements; after all, it is a profession that demands strong communication skills, and TOEFL scores typically need to be 100+.
For PhD applications, only a few schools accept direct-entry PhD, and GRE scores are required for doctoral applications.
Most schools require applicants to have previously completed a certain number of credits in subjects such as: human biology, psychology, any social sciences, etc. Therefore, students with a liberal arts background have an advantage when applying to this program.
UC Berkeley PhD Application Requirements:
Regarding experience, it is recommended that applicants have relevant internship or work backgrounds and can simultaneously demonstrate distinct personality traits such as strong communication skills and empathy, which will more easily impress admissions officers.

The University of Chicago's social work program has two concentrations: Clinical Concentration and Social Administration Concentration, and students can choose one to pursue.

- Minimum TOEFL score of 104, with no subsection below 26;

The United States, as an economically developed country, still faces significant social issues, and the field of social work consistently faces a shortage of talent. Many American psychological institutions and NGOs provide a large number of corresponding positions, and the faculty gap in academia is also relatively large.
Regarding domestic employment in China, as the country increasingly prioritizes social issues, more and more social welfare programs and related positions are opening up, providing returning social work professionals with broad development opportunities.
