The latest 2026 THE World University Rankings by subject, released by Times Higher Education, provide a more targeted reference for students with clear academic interests. Based on 18 performance indicators with weight adjustments for different fields, the rankings cover 11 core subjects, including Business and Economics, Education, Computer Science, and more. For families planning to study abroad, subject rankings offer a more precise reflection of a university's research strength and industry influence in specific disciplines, helping applicants identify their dream schools.

In this analysis, CheersYou(清柚教育) focuses on the ranking changes in five popular fields: Business and Economics, Education, Computer Science, Engineering, and Social Sciences. The data shows that US and UK universities continue to lead globally, with top institutions like MIT, Stanford, Oxford, and Cambridge performing strongly in their respective disciplines. Notably, Asian universities are rising rapidly. Tsinghua University entered the top five globally in both Business and Economics and Education, and Peking University made its first appearance in the top ten for Computer Science, showcasing the outstanding competitiveness of China's top universities on the international stage.

Compared with overall university rankings, subject rankings are more targeted, especially for students planning to apply to multiple countries or regions simultaneously.

However, we also remind everyone that no university ranking should be the sole criterion for university applications.

Your own background, school strengths, city convenience, tuition and living costs, employment opportunities, safety, and more should all be considered comprehensively. We wish you all the best in accurately identifying your dream school and getting admitted soon!
