This year, MIT, Yale University, and Stanford University continue to hold the top three spots on the list. They have consistently excelled in academic reputation, professor quality, and student satisfaction over the years.
After surpassing Yale to take the top spot last year, MIT once again ranks #1 in the nation, achieving a "back-to-back championship." Stanford University, Princeton University, and Caltech all improved their positions, ranking second, fifth, and sixth respectively.
Duke University climbed three spots this year to reach #11, just one step away from the Top 10. Johns Hopkins University also advanced from outside the top 20 last year to enter the Top 19.
UCLA moved up three places to rank #17 nationally, overtaking the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor to claim the title of the "#1 Public University in the US."
A number of institutions also experienced a "Waterloo" in their rankings: Dartmouth College and Columbia University each dropped by 3 places; the University of Southern California fell out of the Top 30, sliding to rank 37; and New York University plummeted by 25 spots, narrowly avoiding a drop out of the Top 60.
