Recently, Times Higher Education released its latest rankings.
This ranking covers six popular study-abroad disciplines: Business & Economics, Education, Law, Social Sciences, Engineering & Technology, and Computer Science.
Let’s take a look at the rankings for these six disciplines~
Business & Economics Top 25
THE Business & Economics includes majors such as: Accounting & Finance, Business & Management, and Economics & Econometrics. This year, the number of universities assessed in Business & Economics expanded from 585 to 632.
The top 4 are: MIT, Stanford University, University of Oxford, and University of Cambridge.
Duke University, ranked 5th last year, was overtaken by UC Berkeley and now sits at 7th, while UC Berkeley moves to 5th. Harvard University dropped from 7th to 10th, and Yale University fell out of the top 10 to 11th place.
Education Top 25
THE Education subject includes majors such as: Education, Teacher Training, and Educational Research. This year, the number of universities ranked in Education grew from 428 to 477.
In this ranking, Stanford ranks 1st, Harvard 2nd, UC Berkeley fell from 3rd to 5th, University of Pennsylvania stays at 6th, UCLA at 8th, University of Wisconsin-Madison at 9th, and University of Michigan-Ann Arbor at 10th.
Notably, New York University jumped 9 spots to rank 21st.
Computer Science Top 25
This year, the number of universities ranked in THE Computer Science subject increased from 684 to 749.
The top 3 comprises University of Oxford, Stanford University, and ETH Zurich, with MIT at 4th and University of Cambridge at 5th.
Tsinghua University ranks first in China and 15th globally, followed by Hong Kong University of Science and Technology at 17th.
Engineering & Technology Top 25
THE Engineering & Technology subject ranking covers majors such as: General Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Chemical Engineering.
This year, the number of universities ranked in Engineering & Technology expanded from 903 to 1008.
In this ranking, Caltech rose from 4th to tie for 1st with Stanford, while University of Cambridge and Harvard tied for 3rd. Last year’s top, University of Oxford, fell to 5th.
Peking University ranks 13th globally, second in Asia.
Social Sciences Top 25
THE Social Sciences subject includes majors such as: Communication & Media Studies, Politics & International Studies (including Development Studies), Sociology, and Geography. This year, the number of universities ranked in Social Sciences grew from 666 to 720.
MIT ranks 1st, up two spots from last year, followed by Harvard at 3rd. Stanford fell from 2nd to 4th, Princeton is 6th, and Yale 8th.
Notably, Peking University ranks 18th, the highest in Asia.
Law Top 25
This year, the number of universities ranked in THE Law subject increased from 187 to 190.
Stanford tops the list, Duke University fell from 2nd to 6th, Yale University is 3rd, University of Chicago 5th, UC Berkeley ties for 6th, and Harvard drops out of the top 10 to 13th;
UCLA moved up 7 spots from 18th to 11th.
