we received the latest news from inside the Columbia University admissions office—the language requirements for U.S. undergraduates applying to U.S. graduate programs have been updated again!
Columbia's School of Professional Studies, which originally required U.S. undergraduates to submit TOEFL scores as well, has just revised its English Language Proficiency requirement on the official website!
The Applied Analytics program no longer requires U.S. undergraduates to submit language test scores! For more information on Applied Analytics, click here.
Note that another popular program with changes is Actuarial Science, which also no longer requires language test scores from U.S. undergraduates. For more information, click here for the Actuarial Science program.
Meanwhile, the Non-profit Management program allows students who attended U.S. high school and U.S. undergraduate programs to waive TOEFL scores!
Other popular programs also require case-by-case consideration.
For instance, ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) still maintains the previous requirement: only those with "U.S. undergraduate degree + one year of postbaccalaureate professional experience" can waive the language test.
Sport Management, on the other hand, requires all non-native English speakers to submit language test scores.
Previously, CheersYou（清柚教育） consultants contacted Columbia's admission office several times and consistently received the answer that U.S. undergraduates needed TOEFL or IELTS scores.
Unexpectedly, just a few days later, Columbia updated its official requirements, allowing some programs to exempt U.S. undergraduates from language tests to some extent. Applicants must pay close attention!

Columbia's Applied Analytics program is STEM-designated, allowing international students up to three years of OPT. The MSAA program mainly trains students to use data for decision-making and propose actionable analysis and solutions. It is not purely data science or statistics; it incorporates many business case studies into the teaching, helping students better integrate theory and practice.
The core curriculum listed on the MSAA website consists of two categories: Management Core and Technical Core.
At the end of the program, there is a Capstone Project; upon completion of the Capstone, students have finished all graduate studies for this program.
